Presented by Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Story Behind the Switch is a traveling program with several interactive electricity demonstrations.
The 45 - 60 minute electrical program is delivered by Tri-State and Sierra Electric to schools in Sierra's service territory at no cost to the school. It teaches students about electricity and safety with hands-on activities including a Van de Graeff generator, plasma ball and more. The session covers diverse energy resources, energy efficiency, the path of electricity from the power plant to the home, electricity cooperative career paths, and conductors vs. insulators. The program is engaging for students K-12. The presentation is adjusted based on the age of the students. The program includes a lesson plan to outline the program.
