Safety Coloring Contest

Safety Coloring Contest

The Safety Coloring Contest is sponsored by Sierra Electric Cooperative and other participating New Mexico electric cooperatives with the New Mexico Marketing & Member Services Association.  The purpose of the safety coloring contest is to show support for our community and educate children on the importance of safety around power lines.  At the co-op, safety comes first, and we are dedicated to doing our part to teach children how to be safe around electricity.

Each year, posters are distributed to second, third and fourth grade students at local elementary schools.  Posters are judged and prizes are awarded to the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners in each of the grade levels; local winners will receive prizes determined by the co-op and do not have to be members of the cooperative to participate in the local contest.

However, one overall winner will be selected from posters colored by children of active members of Sierra Electric Cooperative.  That poster will be sent to be judged against other cooperative children competitors in New Mexico and if chosen as 1st, 2nd or 3rd place winner overall, will receive a separate prize from the statewide competition.
